When Katarina Roccella released her fabric line Blithe I was smitten. Rich purples and teals softened with corals, golds and greys. It’s an absolutely beautiful collection that can be worn in all 4 Canadian seasons. All of the prints are so reminiscent of the woods and how magical they can be. I have a few pieces from this collection that I am working on a few dresses, something with the linen and of course my dear deer dress.
With the dear print I wanted to make sure I chose a pattern that would show off the beautfiul fabric without making it look to childish or like a giant cat sweater. If you know what I mean. I have had Cali Faye’s gardenia dress pattern in my cart for some time and thought this would be a great dress to pair it with. It’s perfect. It’s an everyday tunic dress that I could dress up or down.
It’s a relatively easy sew although I did get my back pieces mixed up with my front and that was a pain to unpick without damaging the knit too much. So note to self next time mark your pieces on this dress as it can be deceiving especially if it’s not a one directional print.
Besides the pattern let’s talk more about the fabric. I love it! Have I said that already. It’s a subtle all over print of deers and teal and floral headbands just some of my favorite colours and images.
What do you think? Have you sewn with any of the Blithe fabrics? If not head on over to Katarinas blog and follow along as she has a tour going on with this line and it’s featuring tons of amazing makers. It’s already started and I am one of the makers too. This isn’t my piece for the tour I just thought it would be a good intro. I will save my piece till my day. So get some inspiration here you can find fabric here and grab a Cali Faye pattern here.
